Dear Potential Storytron Wiki Contributor,

This wiki is meant to be a community reference work, belonging to everyone. Anyone is welcome to contribute as long as they observe the basic rule of "liberty, equality, fraternity."

I'd like all contributors to observe a few basic guidelines so we can avoid any chaos and confusion. Let's always keep the novice storybuilder in mind, preparing to make his or her first ascent in interactive storytelling. Getting everyone to the summit is our goal.

Here are some initial guidelines:

1. Let's try and keep the writing consistent.

Since I'd like this to be a reference work first and foremost, let's try to keep the tone, voice, and point-of-view consistent with that type of writing. Debates and diatribes (FaceGen vs. GenCrowd, Gamers vs. Storybuilders, Windows vs. Macintosh, etc.) have their appropriate forums for discussion.

2. Let's try and keep the page structure consistent

I've come up with a page layout that seems to fit most situations.

  • Overview
  • Other page-specific sections go here
  • References

If you feel a page's structure should be changed, email me why or post why on in the wiki section in the Storytron forums, and we'll discuss the pros and cons.

3. Let's try and be as clear and concise as possible in our writing.

Remember that this wiki is supposed to be a reference work for the novice storyteller trying to get a specific answer out the whos, whys, and wheres of Storytronics. Good spelling and grammer are nice but not essential (personally, I consider myself the worlds worst speller around).

4. Please don't modify the front page at this time.

I'd like to keep the front page as simple as possible at this point in time. 'Nuff said.

5. Please don't upload images at this time.

If you think you need an image to further illustrate your a point you're making, put a graphic placeholder among your writing and I'll create a graphic. (A single vertical bar (|) before and after something puts a box around it, e.g. ADD GRAPHIC )

If you've already have a special graphic that you want added, email it to me and I'll upload it.

6. If you break something, please try and fix it.

There's a wiki style/composition for any questions you might have about wiki formatting (you can also use regular HTML on the pages). If you can't fix something, email me and I'll either fix it or restore the particular page to a previous version.

7. Remember the Golden Rule - "What you do not want others to do to you, do not do to others."

Let's resolve our differences of opinion (which are bound to occur) in the appropriate forum and in the appropriate way. Remember - principles, not personalities.

If after reading all of this you still want to contribute, click [|HERE]. You'll automatically have access to the wiki at the contributor level (which means you'll be able to edit individual pages). Enjoy.

If you've decided that you don't want to contribute, at least feel free comment on the appropriate page. Remember, this is our wiki.

Thank you.

Bill Maya
