This wiki is meant to be a community reference work, belonging to everyone. Anyone is welcome to contribute as long as they observe the basic rule of "liberty, equality, fraternity."

Let's always keep the novice storybuilder in mind, preparing to make his or her first ascent in interactive storytelling. Getting everyone to the summit is our goal.

Permission Levels

There are two permission levels available to the community at this time.

  • Writer - Writers can edit pages and revert pages to previous versions. They can also upload new files and create new pages.
  • Reader - Readers cannot make any modifications at all to the wiki, except for commenting on pages. They can view pages, RSS feeds, and files.

Pre-2009 guideline text below. To be removed or incorporated into guidelines above before 3/14/09.

Here are some initial guidelines:

1. Let's try and keep the writing consistent.

Since I'd like this to be a reference work first and foremost, let's try to keep the tone, voice, and point-of-view consistent with that type of writing. Debates and diatribes (FaceGen vs. GenCrowd, Gamers vs. Storybuilders, Windows vs. Macintosh, etc.) have other appropriate forums for discussion.

3. Let's try and be as clear and concise as possible in our writing.

Remember that this wiki is supposed to be a reference work for the novice storyteller trying to get a specific answer regarding the whos, whys, and wheres of Storytronics. Good spelling and grammer are nice but not essential (personally, I consider myself the worlds worst speller around).

4. Please don't modify the front page at this time.

I'd like to keep the front page as simple as possible at this point in time. 'Nuff said.

5. Uploading images, please be aware that we only have 1GB for files and images.

If you've creaded a special graphic that you want to add, by all means do so, but please be aware that we only have 1GB for files and images.

If you think a particular image is needed to further illustrate a point you're trying to make, but graphics or illustration is not your strong point, put a graphic placeholder among your writing and someone will create a custom graphic. (A single vertical bar (|) before and after something puts a box around it, e.g. ADD GRAPHIC )

6. If you break something, please try and fix it.

There's a dedicated wiki style/composition page for any questions you might have about wiki formatting (you can also use regular HTML on the pages). If you can't fix something, email me and I'll either fix it or restore the particular page to a previous version. I'll be backing the wiki up a regular intervals so nothing is undoable.

7. Please remember the Golden Rule - "What you do not want others to do to you, do not do to others."

Let's resolve our differences of opinion (which are bound to occur) in the appropriate forum and in the appropriate way. Remember - this wiki should be about principles, not personalities.

If after reading these guidelines you still want to contribute, click HERE. You'll automatically have access to the wiki at the contributor level. (Please don't forget to provide your name when you do any editing.) Enjoy.

If you've decided that you don't want to contribute, I still hope you'll comment about individual pages (using the "Comment" button at the top of each page). Remember, this is our wiki.

Thank you.
